frequently asked questions
when you book a mural with me, I’ll be on hand to talk you through the whole process and work with you to create the design that is perfect for your space. here are some answers to some of the initial questions you might have. feel free to book a free chat with me by clicking the link on the top right of the page and i’ll be happy to answer any of your questions .
1. How much does a mural cost?
Mural prices differ based on:
The complexity of the design
The texture of the wall
The number of paint colours
The size of the wall
Prices begin at £500 for smaller, simpler, interior murals however larger murals with more complexity will be more. Every mural receives the utmost care with 2 layers of paint and 2 layers of protective topcoat. I work with you from the beginning, making sure the design is exactly what you want. I always create designs to suit you, your environment, clients and space so rest assured, there is no copy paste happening here. Your mural will be unique to you and we will work over 2-3 revisions to make sure it is perfect before paint hits wall.

2. what is the timescale?
I want you to be happy with your mural and I will work closely with you to create something bespoke to you, no copy/paste or AI art here! Because of this a typical project takes 6-8 weeks on average. This allows us plenty of time to discuss 2-3 design iterations to make sure you are happy with the mural before I even touch a paint brush. It allows us to arrange for any access requirements too, like scaffolding etc. I have worked on much shorter timelines of 2 weeks however having a bit of breathing space will make it a more enjoyable process.
3. How long does it take to install?
This again depends greatly on the texture of the wall, size of wall and complexity of the design, but for a flat wall a typical rule of thumb is that a complex design on a flat wall 2m² with 2 coats of paint and top coat will take 1 day. So a 20m² mural would take 5 days. This will be much less if the design is simpler. I always build in contingency and keep my clients up to date on progress.
4. do you travel?
YES! I love to travel to different locations to bring murals to life across the UK and beyond. I have painted murals in Warwickshire, Cambridgeshire, London, Worcestershire and even France. I’m based in the Midlands which makes it easy for me to reach all corners of the UK and airport for further afield destinations. If your project involves travel I just ask that you get in touch as soon as possible so we can choose the best time to paint the mural that suits you or your business. For corporate clients this can mean waiting for any seasonal quiet periods for instance. Indoor murals can be painted all year round whereas outdoor murals need to be painted in warmer weather, typically from April - October.
5. what qualifications do you have?
A few people know I used to be a product designer for Dyson. I left the industry to follow a more artistic, creative career path, however this experience means I’m a dab hand at all things technical and spacial. I always create a digital mock-up of your mural for you to picture how it will look in your space. I’m also used to working to budgets and deadlines and if you require help with the Health and Safety aspect of things, I’m accustomed to creating Risk Assessments and Method Statements (particularly useful for projects in the public sector like the NHS).
I have public liability insurance and have received PASMA training for working with scaffolding and at height.
I graduated with a MA First Class Honors in illustration from Falmouth University and I’m also a lecturer in BA illustration and Visual Communication at Northampton University.
6. can you facilitate co-creation?
YES! If you are looking for a mural to be designed with a community group or network, I am experienced in delivering workshops to facilitate a co-design process. I have developed a framework for co-creation called ‘AIM’. Which allows for a variety of approaches depending on the group’s needs. Book a no-obligation mural chat to discuss this process with me further.
7. what’s included in the price?
Included in your estimate is the following:
Free mural chat
Initial design sketches and colour palette recommendations
1-2 bespoke designs fully rendered for review (2 rounds of revisions included)
Mural ‘mock-ups’ showing them digitally on your chosen wall
Risk Assessment and Method Statement
Help sourcing scaffolding partner (scaffolding install must be co-ordinated from the client end for ease)
Full installation of the mural
Any remaining paint is yours to keep if you want to use it for other aspects of your business / home / community space.
8. how long will it last?
A general rule of thumb is 10+ years. After this there will be signs of everyday wear and tear. I leave any leftover paint with you so you can always touch up areas that are damaged or worn, or I can arrange to come back and service the mural for a fee.
