YMCA Worcester mural

Worcester 2025

In 2025 I worked with 6 students from BA illustration at Worcester university to paint a mural at the YMCA where staff are providing safe accommodation for young people. I chatted with staff and residents about their thoughts for the mural, they had recently lost a beloved team member Claire so we decided that the imagery should be a reflection of Claire, celebrating her favourite things and colours, whilst also creating a warm, inviting space for anyone who visits the service. Claire’s favourite colours were blues, pinks and purples. She worked as a life coach and helped residents with personal challenges as well as being an advocate for sobriety, The butterfly was an important symbol for Claire so became. bold part of the design. She was known for her extensive shoe collection so we adorned the walls with trainers! It was a pleasure to share the process with residents and see this dark space come to life.
