how to work with mama murals

Considering a mural but not sure what steps to take? Let me share with you a little about my process. I love working with my clients to create bespoke pieces of art for any space. I want to make sure you are completely happy with the design before I pick up a brush.

You can read some testimonials here

Step 1 - Say Hello!

Feel free to drop into my inbox by emailing hello@mamamurals.co.uk and tell me a little about your project ideas! Send as much information as you have so far, but if it’s just the seed of an idea, that’s fine too. This is our jumping off point. Chances are, if you’ve found me then we’re already aligned in the vision for your mural. I never send cold emails as I want to make sure that my clients want to work with me and love my work before we start talking. As you can tell, I don’t really paint realistic landscape scenes…but I know you’re here because you love the mama murals style. I can’t wait to hear about your project!

If you have questions, why not book a free mural chat with me. I can help you identify the best place for a mural, suggest some different pricing options and even draw up some rough concepts that you’ll only pay for if you decide to go ahead. There’s no pressure to commit at this stage.

Step 2 - getting to know you and your wall

I love to get to know your walls! After our first chat the next best step is to visit your wall. At this point I’ll ask you a lot of questions about your wall which will help me make the best decisions when it comes to the design and materials for your mural (things like…how much sun does it get, what is the surface made of, is it in a high traffic area…etc). If possible to do so, I’ll come with my tape measure, take some photos and measure up. If this isn’t possible, I’ll ask you to measure the wall and take photos for me.

We can go into more detail about any ideas you have for the wall, any themes or concepts you may have, your favourite colours or inspiration

Step 3 - design and quote

I’ll take all your ideas and create a mini design just for you. I’ll create a ‘mock-up’ to show how the design will look on your wall. I’ll send you a quote along with some examples of other projects for you to look at. I’ll also send a contract for you to sign. If you’re happy with everything I request 50% payment up front to secure the project. I’ll also book a painting window in with you.

Once payment is received I’ll continue to work on the design with your feedback and provide up to 2 more revisions.

If you represent a company or a group, I offer co-design workshops tailored to suit the group. I can tailor these workshops for a range of ages, abilities and needs. You can read about my co-design process here.

Step 4 - design and paint

This is the exciting part that all the prep has been leading up to. We sign off the design and I’ll start painting. The time required for painting depends on the complexity of the design. You don’t need to be there the whole time I am painting and I can work around your schedule, if for example it is a commercial property. Ideally there will be some access to water but that isn’t a necessity. I’ll protect your floor with dust sheets and install your mural! I film all my projects but I’ll always check with you first if you prefer not to be in the footage.

Step 5 - enjoy your mural

Time to sit back, take some photos and appreciate your new work of art. I hope you love your mural! Don’t forget to tag me @mama.murals if you share it on social media.
